Asset Investment Recovery

Asset Investment Recovery is responsible for the disposal of surplus tangible assets of the province of British Columbia. Such tangible assets include buildings, vehicles, boats, heavy equipment and office furnishings. AIR is also responsible for determining the appropriate method of disposal for such assets and ensuring these assets are disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. AIR demonstrates a strong commitment to environmentally and socially responsible management practices and is setting the government standard for best management practices in most core operations. Assets managed by AIR come from not only provincial ministries, but also a number of other public sector organizations such as the federal government, various municipalities, crown corporations, schools districts, health authorities, police departments and proceeds of crime. These organizations can use arms length decision processes and access the large customer base of buyers to sell products quickly and increase net returns on their surplus assets.

AIR’s mandate requires that we provide equal and equitable access to the sale of governments surplus assets by the citizens and business of the province using methods of sale that ensure maximum net return is received. It is a one-stop asset shop for the public to buy surplus assets with methods of sale that include cash and carry sales , offers to purchase (sealed bids), public auctions and BC Auction.
