Battery Recycling for Government Ministries

Commencing July 1, 2010, Asset Investment Recovery will no longer handle battery recycling for provincial ministries.

In June of this year, the Ministry of Environment announced the first government-mandated household battery recycling program in North America (including alkaline batteries).  Because of this new battery recycling stewardship program with Call2Recyle and given AIR’s current labour costs, ministries must now recycle their batteries directly using the Call2Recycle program.

The Call2Recycle program will now collect, free of charge, all household battery types at nearly 1500 collection locations throughout the province.
